Burdette Park

Burdette Park opened in 1936 after the Everett Burdette American Legion post 187 purchased 40 acres of land in Perry Township in 1927. Development of the park continued through the Great Depression thanks to public works programs such as the WPA and CWA. Today, Burdette Park has grown to around 170 acres of wooded area, with plenty of activity spaces, fishing areas, and more.

Burdette Park contains an extensive aquatic center with two pools and waterslides, as well as rentable campsites, shelters, and the O’Day Discovery Lodge, an event space capable of hosting up to 650 people.

Howell Park and Wetlands

Howell Park is located a stone’s throw from Burdette Park, and offers additional amenities, such as basketball, softball, football, a large playground, an aquatic complex, and a 9 hole golf course. Additionally, it is home to the Howell Wetlands nature preserve, a unique 35-acre urban wetland, one of the largest and one of only five of its kind in Indiana.
