Perry Township is located in Vanderburgh County, Indiana. Organized in 1840, the Township serves over 24,000 residents on the West Side of Evansvile and beyond. Located in Perry Township are institutions such as the University of Southern Indiana, the Mesker Park Zoo, and a multitude of Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corporation schools.

About Perry Township

Perry Township was organized on September 9th, 1840 by the Vanderburgh County Board of Commissioners, making it the fourth township to be established in Vanderburgh county. Nearly 200 years later, it still exists to serve its many residents, including Evansville’s West Side, the communities of Belknap and Red Bank, and more. Perry Township also is home to the University of Southern Indiana, Mesker Park Zoo, Burdette Park, many Evansville-Vanderburgh school corporation schools, along with many private schools serving the Catholic Diocese of Evansville. As of 2020, the population of Perry Township was 24,239 people across a total area of 28.21 square miles.

Perry Township Fire Dept.

The Perry Township Fire Department services the 55 square mile area of Perry and Union Townships in the western side of Vanderburgh County. The Volunteer Department includes 60 personnel and 12 apparatus that respond from three different stations. The Fire Department provides Fire, Rescue, Water Rescue, and Medical First Responder protection to the residents of the serviced townships.
